ScanFold — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 September 2026
The short version
ScanFold does not collect anything. The app has no account system, no server and no networking code. Every scan you make stays on your iPhone until you choose to share it.
What ScanFold uses, and why
Camera and LiDAR. Used to build the 3D reconstruction. Frames and depth maps are processed on the device and written into the app's own storage as part of a scan. They are never uploaded.
Motion sensors. Gyroscope readings decide when a frame is steady enough to keep, so blurred frames are rejected before they degrade a scan.
Location (optional). If you grant location access, the coordinate and compass heading at the time of capture are written into the scan's own file so the scan can be pinned on the in-app map. This coordinate never leaves your device. If you decline, scanning works exactly the same and the scan simply has no pin.
What ScanFold does not do
- No account, sign-in, or user identifier of any kind
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising SDKs
- No data transmitted to us or to any third party — the app contains no networking code
- No selling or sharing of data, because none is collected
Your scans
Scans live in the app's storage on your iPhone. You can export them yourself as USDZ, GLB, PLY or OBJ files, or reach them through the Files app. When you share a scan, it goes wherever you send it, and that destination's own terms apply. Deleting a scan in the app, or deleting the app, removes the data from your device.
Children
ScanFold is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.
